About Soppong Town
Soppong is the administrative and commercial focal point of Pang Mapha. Settled at the confluence of the Lang and Nam Mae Sai rivers, it is where local hill-tribe farmers, Shan merchants, and travelers cross paths around the daily morning market, roadside noodle shops, and quiet riverside guesthouses.
The Real Appeal
For essential amenities (ATMs, fuel, 7-Eleven, pharmacy), authentic Shan noodle tables, morning market produce, and as the direct gateway to Tham Lod (8 km north).
What It's Actually Like
A low-slung, authentic Thai-Shan trading village along the highway. Early mornings are lively with monks collecting alms and farmers bringing wild forest greens to market; by 20:00, the streets are dark, silent, and peaceful.

Located directly on Route 1095 at kilometer 138. The junction to Tham Lod branches north directly across from the hospital.
